5 years ago today...

I got to finally take my baby boy home from the hospital.

It was a Sunday morning. My plans for the day were the same as they had been for everyday for the almost 2 weeks prior to it; I was going to spend most, if not all of the day at the hospital with my baby. When I got to the nursery to get G1 they told me that the pediatrician had said G1 could go home that day. I think the nurses were just as excited for me as I was.

Since we weren't planning on being able to take him home yet (he still wasn't 5 pounds! and they had said that was the "magic" number) there wasn't any family available to help me out. Matt had to work and everyone else was at church. I had a friend more than willing to help me out though.

While I was preparing to finally get to leave with him, G1 was taken in for his circumcision. When I got back to the hospital I got him dressed in the outfit Matt and I had picked out a few days after G1 was born. I was then given instructions, nurses helped me get the carseat just right for him, and walked us down to the car.

I was finally becoming a full-time mommy! I had been waiting so long (those 15 days seemed like an eternity!!) for the day I could take him out of the hospital. He did so well! He hardly fussed at all leaving the hospital. Such a sweet baby!

Our first stop was of course to go see Daddy at work! Definitely not the best picture of Matt, but you can totally tell he was happy.

After leaving there we went to the church to surprise Grammy. Then we went home. That is really where our journey as parents began, because before that I really only felt like a visitor in this precious little miracle's life.

  1. He certainly is a miracle. The five years have gone by so quickly. It seems just like it was yesterday the he was born. He has brought a lot of joy into many peoples' lives.
