Playing in snow

December 9, 2008

We had a pretty good snow fall. I had just found G1's snow pants a couple days beforehand. I asked G1 if he would like to go out to play in the snow with Daddy. Much to my surprise he said yes. (He has always hated to be in the snow. I think he liked the concept of it, it was always just too cold for him.) So they got ready and went out to play. He loved it! He doesn't have the best mittens for playing in the snow (they are just cotton, I can't find better ones anywhere for him!) but it never phased him. My baby boy is growin' up it seems.

GETTING READY:

Doesn't he look so big??

OUTSIDE:

I sent a bowl outside with him. He was showing us the snow he had collected.

COMING IN TO GET "COFFEE"

One time when we stayed at G'ma and G'pa Fairlie's G1 had seen G'ma drinking coffee. He inquired as to what it was and she told him it was coffee. Since then mugs are not mugs they are "coffee." So if he wants something to drink out of his mug he will tell me he wants XYZ in his coffee. (Normally it is hot chocolate in his coffee.) I gotthe "coffee" ready for him as he was coming in. G2 and G3 even got to have some hot chocolate.

I have lots more to post and since the computer seems to be better now hopefully I will be able to get the rest posted tomorrow. I'm a bit tired and a bit annoyed with blogger right now so I am done for the day. But these few posts should give you your fill of "Life with the Gs" for a day or so. :-)

Playing with food

Didn't your mother ever teach you to play with your food? Well, I guess the Gs' mother taught them because they do it all the time.

On one of our lazy evenings I made quesadillas (sp?) for dinner. Well, G1 decided it would be fun to "take pictures" with his. G2 and G3 thought it looked like fun so they started holding theirs up to their faces. They had me cracking up for a long time.

Squirrel

We have this squirrel that runs along the fence on the back side of our house. Our children (especially G3) are absolutely fascinated by it. Every time we see it we try to point it out to them so they can watch it. One day earlier this month we caught it eating something really big and were able to get a pretty good picture of it.

We still have yet to name him. So if you have any cleaver ideas let me know.

Bath time

I don't know why blogger hates me, but it does. I remember now why I always just do slide shows anymore when I have more than a 1-2 pictures. Blogger no longer allows me to put the pictures in the order I want them. ARRGH!!

Anyway....

Now that we have our downstairs bathroom functional G4 has been able to have her first official bath. She had sponge baths of course until her umbilical stump fell off and then she always showered with me. There were times I would wash her hair in the sink if she spit up and it got in her hair but it's not the same.

She loves the tub! She loves being in the tub with her brother and sisters. Her brother and sisters all love the tub.

There have been a couple times that I was just going to bathe 1-3 of the older Gs and G4 was not going to have that. She screamed at me and tried to push herself off of me into the tub. So then I of course put her in. It's cute.

I think I am going to have to stop letting G1 bathe with the girls though. He won't like that but I think we are at the point in life where he needs to be separated from the girls for certain things.

Oh, and having the bathtub on the main floor is so convenient. If the Gs get messy I can just throw them in the tub real quick. I love it!! Thank you for all your hard work Dean and Matt!! It is very much appreciated.

Now onto the bath pictures:

G4 after getting her hair washed

G2 smiling goofily (not really a word)

G4's first reaction to the tub water (not really, she was sneezing)

G4's actual first reaction to the bath

The girls

G2 splashing water into G4's face

The boy

You would never have guessed that this boy has always HATED getting his head wet. Now he loves to lay down in the tub. Seriously this tub is awesome!! It is extra wide and extra deep. It takes forever to fill up though.

They are 2!

This morning when we got up G2 said to me, "Mommy, 2" and held up fingers (not sure how many because I did not have my glasses on yet). It was so cute. We have their 2-year check-up and party tomorrow.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GENEVA!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRETCHYN!!

WE LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!

**FYI:I may not be able to post anything for awhile because my computer/internet is messed up. I am lucky to be getting this posted. **

On this day in 2006 I was 34 weeks pregnant with G2 and G3. I remember being so excited that I had made it that far without any major complications. Little did I know I would be having them 2 days later. Where has the time gone? How can they be turning 2 in 2 days? Didn't I just find out I was having twins like a couple weeks ago??!?

Also, G3 and G4 seem to be doing pretty well. G3 seemed pretty *normal* (for our family anyway) this evening and G4 seems almost back to normal. I seriously don't think we ever need medicine, I think my children just like to go to the doctor and that is what makes them better.

If they all sleep well and seem good in the morning I may attempt to take them to Sacrament meeting in the morning. I hate to miss church altogether, but we will have to see. It still stinks that they will miss nursery but such is life.

Sickness

I have a ton to post about later. But for now I just wanted to say that G3 and G4 are sick. G1 and G2 aren't up to par but they're okay. I just got back from the doctor's with G3 and G4. They both have an ear infection. G3 in her right ear and G4 in her left ear. That would totally explain why G4 was so so so cranky last night. I have to go back to the pharmacy in a bit to pick up the prescriptions. I also have to give them breathing treatments. G3 weighs 23.5 lbs and G4 weighs 16 lbs 4 oz. G4 also needed to have x-rays. I didn't get to go in with her, but I did hear her screaming down the hall. Poor baby. We should hear about the x-rays later today.
Hopefully they will be fine for the girls' birthday party Tuesday. We will have to see.

I'm so sad about this. I hate that my babies are sick. I also hate that I have to miss our Ward Christmas Dinner tonight and church tomorrow. The 3 older Gs missed church last week because they weren't feeling the best.

I will update when I know more.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

UPDATE: G4's x-rays looked normal.

Potty training update

G1 still has yet to poop on the potty but he is wearing underwear most of the time with little accidents; except when one of the girls has an accident than he has an *accident* on purpose. That does not make for a very happy mommy. G2 and G3 are pooping on the potty really well. They tell us most of the time when they need to go, or they just go into the bathroom and go and then tell me they need to wash their hands. Boy is it nice to have a downstairs bathroom.
Before too long they will be in underwear full time during the day. Then we will start on nighttime.

I have bath time pictures to upload so keep your eyes open for that.

I apologize

to all of my fellow bloggers that I seem to be neglecting. It seems anytime I go to comment I get distracted and then I forget altogether. So, I am sorry if I never comment anymore. But I do read and I love what everyone has to say.

6-month check-up

We had G4's 6-month check-up yesterday. She weighs 16 pounds--50th percentile, is 26.5 inches--75th percentile, and her head is still in the 98th percentile. Everything is great. She also got her immunizations. Poor baby has been so cranky since. We don't go back until she is 9 months old.

G2 and G3 have their 2-year check-up on the 16th.

Pictures galore!

2 weeks from today G2 and G3 will be 2!!! HOORAY!! If I'm not posting much between now and then it's because I'm busy getting ready for their party.

I have had numerous people complain to me that I have not posted any recent pictures. Okay so maybe they didn't complain but they told me multiple times that I needed to get on the ball. Well today I finally uploaded pictures from the camera to the computer. Now it is time for picture overload.

Last week we had dinner with friends'. Here are some pictures from that evening:

We had Thanksgiving here in our house. We had a pretty good turnout. I didn't get a lot of pictures but I got plenty of having fun after we ate. We invited the missionaries to join us and they were really good sports playing with the kids.

A lot has changed in the bathroom this past month. Here are some of the pictures. I thought I had taken some of the bathroom with the toilet it, but I obviously didn't. I will try to do that another time. It is so nice having a downstairs bathroom that is usable. G1 decided on Thursday to start wearing underwear full time. We have had some accidents but nothing too bad. He still won't have a BM on the toilet but it will come. G2 has had a few BMs on the toilet. The older 3 Gs are all in underwear today. Hopefully this will continue well.
I got my superhero name while working on the bathroom. :-P Stick Girl! lol I held the 2x4 T thingy so they could get dry wall up on the ceiling. Mom and I joked that I was Stick Girl. What kinds of super powers do you suppose that Stick Girl would have?

These pictures are just for the heck of it. I added a picture of Grammy's "cake" (brownies) with candles in it (only 18--it's all I had) and a picture of G1 and Grammy blowing the candles out.

Here is a cute video of G2 and G3 "jumping" off of the couch:

G3 licking the gravy off of her dinner plate. She's so goofy:

G4 is 6 months (as of yesterday)!!

How did that happen?!?!?! She is doing amazing. We have her 6 month check-up this coming Tuesday.

She had bananas yesterday and LOVED them. I guess she is related to her siblings. :-P

I still have yet to upload pictures to the computer from the camera. I haven't done that since before the 4th of this month. I haven't had the chance to take enough time to do all I need to do for that. So sorry I don't have any recent pictures up yet. But here is one of Matt and G4 from the day she was born. Doesn't he look like such a proud Daddy? (It was middle of the night and we had been taking turns trying to make her happy. So he was pretty exhausted--in case you couldn't tell. That has been probably the only hard night we have had with her.)

We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Duct tape no longer works

on G2 and G3 with keeping their diapers on. So now what do we try? We plan on potty training G1, G2 and G3 completely once the downstairs bathroom is usable. But what do we do until then? We can't keep having these poopy messes on the carpet. Any thoughts anyone?

Happy birthday Grammy!

Today is Mom's birthday. Last night we had "cake" (brownies) for her birthday and sang to her. I think the Gs enjoyed that. G1 helped her blow out the candles. I might post pictures later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA!! WE LOVE YOU!

Some say I'm a slacker...

and they are probably right. Nah, I'm just kidding. I just haven't had the time or energy to post anything new lately. I will not be adding any of the millions of pictures that I have today because I don't have the time or energy. But I will try to give a quick update on all of us.

Matt:
He has been spending most of his *free* (no such thing!) time working on the downstairs bathroom. He had the interview the other day for the apprenticeship. Hopefully that will get started before too long. He seems to be doing well; at least no major complaining coming from him lately.

Ronda:
I have been really struggling with a certain G-boy (but I won't name any names :-P ). In my *free* time I have been working on G2 and G3's birthday invites and stuff for their party. I think I'm doing pretty well also.

G1:
He's a little monster. Some days we aren't sure what to do with him. Matt and I have joked (or was it joking?) that if there was a toddler boot-camp we would totally send G1.
Other days he is such an angel. He repeats EVERYTHING now.
OH and the questioning. I have dreaded the day when my children would start this. "Why Mommy?" "Why, why, why?" He starts most questions with "Can I...?" and when I answer (even when I say yes), "Why Mommy?" ARGH! I know he is just learning. But when I hear it over and over and over and over and over and over (do you get the point?) it gets a bit irritating. I know I should just be grateful that he can speak so well (and don't get me wrong I am very grateful that he is so healthy and intelligent) but I don't have patience and I have many short fuses, so things get to me quickly.
The other night he said our night-time *family* (minus Daddy because he works at night) prayer all by himself. He needed no prompting from me. It made me tear up. My baby boy is getting so big.
He is up to 30.5 pounds!

G2:
She will be 2 years old in 1 month from today. She is learning so much. The other day she told Grammy that Poppy is a boy and that she (G2) is a girl. I didn't know she knew that. She is my timid child. To do new things (and sometimes not new things) she wants me (or another adult) right there to help her and watch over her. She definitely has a mind of her own. Her new word is "No!" I can't tell you how many times I hear that from her in a day. But I would much rather her tell me no than to listen to her whine at me.
She is up to 23 pounds!

G3:
She will also be 2 years old in 1 month from today. She is talking so much and so clearly now. She used to be my timid child but since she has become so accident prone she has become very brave. She is always trying new things (and normally mastering them). She is my little helper. She loves to unload the dishwasher with/for me. She also loves to help me cook (but I'm pretty sure that's just because I let her snack on the food with me as we cook).
Yesterday only 1 of the girls' princess shirts was clean (the 2nd was in the dryer). Both girls wanted to wear it (oh, you should hear these girls say princess it's so cute!). Well, G2 grabbed it out of my hand and was not going to give it up. So I said to G3 "Sissy wants to wear that shirt today. The other princess shirt is in the dryer. Is it okay if Sissy wears that one today and and you can wear the other when it is out of the dryer?" She looked at me as if contemplating that, shook her head yes and said "Uh-huh." And she was fine. After I put her shirt on her she got down, went up to G2, pointed to the shirt and said "Princess" and tried to give G2 a hug. It was so cute. I KNOW I could not have done that with G2. We would have had a MAJOR meltdown on our hands.
G2 and G3 both call each other "Gretchyn" if they use a name. G3 will point to G2 if I ask who Geneva is. But at the same time will say Gretchyn. I think it's funny.
She is also up to 23 pounds!

G4:
She is my little chunky monkey (which happens to be my favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream). She can now sit by herself, roll in both directions, blow raspberries, grab whatever she wants (and man is she fast), and she has scooted on her belly forward and backward a couple times. She is learning how to master the walker.
She loves to play "Getcha" (is that what you would call it, Mom?) with her brother and sisters. This morning I was playing with G2 and G3; G4 yelled at because she wanted to play too. What is this game you ask? It is where we run around the house saying "I'm gonna get you (or getcha)." And then you catch them and I tickle them when it is just me. When G4 is playing she just grabs them (I of course carry her). All the Gs think this is a great game and laugh hysterically when we play.
G4 is getting on some sort of a schedule. Feedings are still whenever she or I or both think it's time. She has started laying down for a nap when her siblings do. She has also started wanting to go to sleep for most of the night after I lay her siblings down for bed. It's been pretty nice. She still sleeps with Matt & I. We don't have a mattress for her crib yet but I'm thinking about putting a play pen in our room to gradually move her out of our bed. I'm not sure though. She still wakes a couple times at night to eat and it is much easier on me if I don't have to really wake up to feed her. I don't know...

We are all pretty healthy and happy. Things are going well. Life is good right now.

That was much longer than I had expected it to be.
I will try to post pictures and a bathroom update soon.
