I am a flour snob

Before having children I would only buy name brand groceries. Even after having G1 I bought pretty much only name brand.
Then I got pregnant with G2 and G3 and money was really tight and we needed food. So, we started shopping Aldi a little bit and buying more store brand groceries.
Some things I prefer store brand actually (I think store brand pineapple-chunks, crushed, slices-taste better than Dole), and there are some things I prefer name brand. But most of the time I will buy whatever costs less regardless of which I really do prefer.
The exception to this is flour. I have only ever gotten store brand flour once or twice. I can't bring myself to buy it. I really do prefer Gold Medal flours over any of them. I'm not sure why, that's just the way it is. I always have 3-4 kinds of flour in the house and all of them are Gold Medal brand.

Are there any foods that you will only buy in a specific brand? Or am I the only crazy one?

I am super forgetful

The camera has been located.
Evidently I took it out of my purse in the van and stuck it in the glove compartment. I do not remember doing this, but it does seem like something I would do. So, there you have it. I am happy to know where it is now. I have missed it, although a new one would be better. :-P

Snowman

G1 has been wanting to build a snowman since before there was any sign of snow this winter.
He hasn't been able to, until today.
We went down to Grammy and Poppy's to play in the snow this afternoon.
We had a lot of fun.

Here is the snowman that we built:

Marcia's questions

What is the scariest story you ever were told (fiction)?
What is your favorite skill you have learned? and did you teach yourself, or did you learn from someone else?

That is all for now, perhaps I will think of more later.

The scariest story...this one was really hard for me come up with an answer for. I really don't remember.
I remember when we lived in Texas and Mark was in the Army. He used to call home, and if I answered he would pretend to either be his Sargent (?) and tell me that he (Mark) had died. That would always traumatize me. Sometimes, when I would answer when he called he would pretend to be his own ghost. I remember screaming after those calls. Sometimes he would just make up horror stories of things he had done or seen. I used to remember some of them , but it has been so long. After I finally figured out he was just joking around during those phone calls it did become fun to answer and listen to his stories.
I don't really remember much of Mark before those phone calls, since we are so far apart in age and he left home when I was still so little. I wish I remembered his stories better.
I don't know if that qualifies as hearing a scary story, but I don't really remember any other scary stories.

My favorite skill I have learned... I'm not sure how to answer this one, I don't feel skilled at anything. I have tried many things, but have failed at almost all of them. I teach myself most of the things I attempt to do, and that may be why I fail at them. Some day I hope to learn to do many things successfully. For that I think I will others teach me.

My son, the artist

Sunday before church started G1 sat down in the pew and took out his notebook. I went to find somebody (possibly the girls, I don't remember). When I came back he had drawn a picture. Can you tell what it is?

He has also drawn a teapot that looked like a teapot. I didn't even know he knew what a teapot was!

Have you seen it?

Has anyone seen our camera recently?

It has gone missing.

Our videos and pictures from Christmas Eve/Christmas day are on there.

I am very sad that we cannot find it.

I remember putting it in my purse when we left Matt's parents' house on the Monday after Christmas.

I haven't seen it since then.

I hope it turns up soon.

I don't like not being able to find things.

Rick's questions

Rick said...

What did you have for breakfast?
Where did you get your layouts for your blog?
Is your Christmas tree down yet?

I did not eat any breakfast this morning (I know, shame on me!).

The blog layout is from thecutestblogontheblock.com

Our Christmas tree that was in the living room came down this morning. The little tree in the kitchen and the tree in the foyer are still up though. I'm thinking those will come down this evening after children are in bed, but we shall see.

Next?

Ask me..

And I might tell you.

I have been having so much trouble blogging lately (pretty much the past almost year). I don't know what to say anymore (I know that is a big shock to pretty much anyone that really knows me).

Now I will give all (what 2 or 3) of you a chance to give me ideas on things to blog about.

Is there anything you would like to know about me or my family (or anything else, but I can't promise anything would be factual)?

I will answer what I can (with some exceptions I'm sure) in as timely a matter as I feel.

1st Day

Today was G2 and G3's first day of preschool. I forgot to make sure my alarm was set correctly, so I over slept. Good thing G1 and G4 woke up when they did and came in to wake Matt and I up. G2 had to be woken up as well.
The 3 older Gs were very excited for school. For the past week G1 has been asking every day "How many days until preschool?" This morning when he woke us up he told me "Today is preschool!"
Here are the 3 older Gs waiting to head out to the van:
G4 wanted her picture at the door too:
G3 with her teacher (she wasn't as unhappy as she appears-she's just that shy):
G2 with her teacher:

G2 and G3 both told me as we were walking out to the van after school that they had fun at preschool. They are excited to go back.

G4 wasn't as happy about her siblings being at school. For a long time after dropping them off she kept asking were "Bubby" was. She didn't walk into his classroom with him so she didn't realize he was in there. She also did not like leaving the girls' classroom. Hopefully it will get easier on her.

I am looking forward to having some alone time with her (on Mondays it will be her, me, and Matt).

Preschool

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year's. We did. Maybe one of these days I will work on getting caught up on posts.

Tomorrow G1 starts back to preschool from having a couple weeks off. G2 and G3 will also be going to preschool starting tomorrow. They are excited, but I think they are getting nervous too.

G2 and G3 are completely potty trained, they aren't having very many nighttime accidents and even fewer daytime accidents.

If I can figure out what I did with our camera I will get pictures of the big girls on their first day of school. Otherwise, I will have to use my phone. Either way I will try to post some pictures tomorrow at some point.
