Painting fun

The day before G4's birthday party Marcia came up to start work decorating cakes.  That morning/early afternoon I had to be out of the house.  I asked her if she would be brave enough (I probably used the word willing) to paint with/or watch The Gs paint while I was gone.  She thought that would work.  I had them paint the bean bag toss.  I asked Matt to stay up to get them started so Marcia could be sure to get some pictures.

This was the first time I had let my children use paints like this.  And they seemed to have a blast.  Honestly, I'm a little glad I wasn't here to clean them up (sorry Marcia!).  Thank you so much for doing this with them Marcia.  You are one rockin' aunt!

  1. Is the last picture a before or after?

  2. I had a lot of fun with this project! I admit I am not sure if I had more fun, or if the Gs had more fun.

  4. They remind me of the Lost Boys from the movie "Hook". I'm glad they get to have fun and do creative things.

  6. The bigger the mess the better the time; I always say, eh Fiona? (I debated and debated and debated, and decided to leave the line in there) Okay so I probably don't always say that, but with paints, it often is true. And the paint cleaned up pretty easily.

Now when the year comes that/if I have to make decisions like that for my offspring, I hope I still feel the same way. Same thing with kids and clothes, each stain/rip is a memory made. Parents at the preschool who send their kids in white clothes and then ask us to not let their children get dirty-HA HA HA! If only those were the kids that did not insist in painting and coloring with markers and rolling in the sand, and not watching where they put their hands holding marker/paint brush. We will not tell the kids they can't do what we are encouraging the other kids to do. Now we will remind the kids to pay attention to what they are doing and to try not to color themselves or their friends.
