Housekeeping

Anyone that knows me at all knows I am far from great (even good!) at home making skills. I don't enjoy cooking. I hate doing laundry and dishes. Cleaning does not come natural to me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all these things getting done. I just enjoy them more when someone else does them.

Because I do not enjoy these activities I am always finding ways to avoid doing them. *rolls eyes at self* Then I get frustrated with myself for letting them go. It is such a vicious cycle. One I wish I knew how to break.  It isn't that I don't know how to do any of these things, I just really hate doing them.

I have lists, I have schedules.  Those things are wonderful tools, but only if you actually use them. *sigh*

It all seemed so much easier when G4 was itty bitty. I was able to keep up (for the most part) on both levels of the house AND blog on a very regular basis. Now I can't do either thing. And 3 Gs are in school full day and 1 half day. Shouldnt it be easier now???

Anyway,  the point of this post is not to tell you all how horrible at keeping up on mine own home. I actually am curious to hear from you about a few things.

I am curious how often you do the following items:

*Dust
*Windex windows/pictures
*Wash curtains/shower curtains
*Wipe down baseboards
*Wipe down interior and exterior doors
*Wipe down table and chair legs
*Clean under couch/chair cushions
*Wash pillows
*Scrub tub/shower
*Scrub BEHIND the toilet, not just inside or the outside that is seen

How do you make home making more enjoyable?
What kind of a routine do you have that makes things easier?
What tips would you give someone, such as myself, that wants to stop detesting these activities?

The Things They Say - Part 7

G3 talking about Toaster Strudel: Aww, that looks pretty. It looks like a mommy.
**********

G2: When I grow up I want to be a firefighter in the mornings and a martial artist at night.

**********

G1: Mommy, the light hurts my eyes at night. I think I'm a vampire at night now.

**********

G2 talking about George Washington: He was born before everybody. Even Jesus.

**********

G2: We go to The Church of Latter-day Things

**********

G4 while sleeping: Sometimes I talk when I'm asleep.

**********

G1: I wish we had other people that could be president. Like Uncle Micah, because he's funny. It could be him against Uncle Monkey. And I would vote for Uncle Micah.

**********

G4: I'm doomed.
G3: Like Dr Doom?

Matt is "famous"

Every month we (actually Matt) gets a newsletter thing in the mail from the railroad.  It has all the highlights of things going on in the Chicago Division of BNSF.  One month over the summer Matt was highlighted in it because of how well he did at the Kuk Sool Won tournament in St Louis, at the end of April (I will try to get some pictures/videos of that trip sometime).

At the train station

This summer Poppy rode the train out to Colorado for some railroad stuff.  The Gs, Noah, Uncle Monkey, and I all joined Grammy to see Poppy off.  Here are some pictures from our time waiting for the train to arrive.

Old MacDonald Had a Farm

This summer Ronald McDonald (or Old MacDonald had a farm, as G4 calls him) visited our public library. Matt and I took the girls to go see him (I believe G1 was staying with Grammy, and that's why we didn't have him with us).
G3 was Ronald's helper for part of his storytelling.

4th of July

On the 4th of July we went to Grandma and Grandpa Fairlie's camper to spend the day. I think this is the most recent family picture we have.
Matt decided to get G1 his first BB gun for his 7th birthday.  We decided to give him this present while we were at the camper, rather than at his party with his friends.  Here is Matt showing G1 how to use it and G1 shooting it.

Hanging out in trees

Just some pictures Matt & I took, on our phones, over the summer of the kids in trees.

Marcia, I need you to teach me how to use GIMP, I don't have PSE on any of the computers and would have loved to have done some editing...
